The Declaration of Independence
of the United Free Persons of America
When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bonds which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness. We hold that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of those governed in the past, present, and future. We hold that whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shown that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism and totalitarianism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security. –Such has been the patient sufferance of these states; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of government. The history of the present federal government of the United States is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these states. To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world.
It has utterly rejected the limitations of our own Constitution, the most wholesome and necessary check on government power, initially created with unanimous consent by our wise founders, and reduced it to the status of a historical curiosity.
It has forbidden the sovereign rights of states to pass laws respecting themselves without regard to the will of the federal government.
It has expanded the role of government to encompass countless activities not originally intended to be influenced by the government.
It allowed members of legislative bodies to create legislation and unnecessary outlays of taxpayer money solely in self-interest, with the condition that favors will be extended to them in return.
It has blanketed industries with subsidies of taxpayer money, for the sole purpose of fatiguing those who run their businesses legally but in ways contrary to the government’s preference into compliance with its will.
It has taxed industries which do not strike its fancy to the point of nonexistence when it cannot outlaw the industry outright.
It has taught generations of our children only what it wishes to teach them and banned alternative sources of education entirely.
It has consistently used “crises” as an excuse to grow itself to the point of totalitarianism.
It has created and catered to the philosophy of entitlement and wealth-destruction by redistribution.
It has spent unprecedented amounts of money to intervene in the markets to aid those upon whomever it chooses to extend its goodwill.
It has forced us, by legislation, to consider certain peoples as inherently unequal.
It has infringed on the people’s right to do as they wish on their own property without endangering the property of others.
It has aided foreign dictators and governments who have no influence on the welfare of American citizens without justification.
It has erected a multitude of new administrative agencies of questionable constitutionality, created innumerable regulations not subject to the approval of citizens, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.
It has conducted numerous foreign wars without declarations of war by our legislature.
It has banned our consensual, personal trade with many parts of the world.
It has killed hundreds of thousands of its citizens to attempt to show that they no longer possess a right to secede from it and establish a government more favorable to their interests and that this government does not exist to serve its people, but that the people exist to serve their government.
It has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving its assent to their acts of pretended legislation:
For requiring us to follow innumerable regulations set upon us by administrative agencies:
For imposing taxes on us without our consent:
For depriving us in many cases, of right to be considered innocent until proven guilty:
For taking away our sovereign right to contracts, endlessly creating harmful laws, and altering fundamentally the forms of our governments:
For monopolizing and counterfeiting by interminable reproduction our national currency with the sole purpose of increasing the power of the government:
It has abdicated distributed government by declaring its sovereignty over state government and requiring states to follow federal precedents.
It has become a society of lifelong, careerist politicians who cater to the whims of special interests.
It has devalued our currency, manipulated our markets, and brainwashed our populace.
It has infringed on the freedom of religion, the right to bear arms, the right to be secure from warrantless search and seizure, the reservation of all non-enumerated rights to application by the states, and numerous other portions of the Constitution.
In every stage of these oppressions we have petitioned for redress in the most humble terms: our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated insult and injury. A government, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
We, therefore, the representatives of the United Free Persons of America, in General Congress, assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the name, and by the authority of the good people of these colonies, solemnly establish and declare, that these united persons of right are able to be free and independent of the will of the United States government; that they can secede from and be absolved from all allegiance to the government of the United States, and that all political connection between them and the United States may be totally dissolved; and that as groups of free and independent like-minded persons, they may choose to conclude peace, contract alliances, establish commerce, and to do all other acts and things which independent states may of right do. And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.
If our grievances are not addressed, we may be forced to seek independence from the United States in order to secure autonomy as individuals.
